from a starting point he/she travels 3km east and 5km north. so 6km(root(5^2+3^2)) far from northeast. plus 8km is 14 km notheast from the starting point.

12 Kms is corect ans. n abishek hs given right justification draw it in form of quadrants n u will get d soln.

if u draw a rectangle of length of total(3+8) km and breadth 5km and draw a diagonal from the starting to ending point by Pythagaros Theorem square(hyp) square(the both sides)

Therefore 25+121 sqrt(answer)

it comes to be 12.083km

I saw the same question in 2 tcs papers. But they gave 13 as ans.But i dont know how.

well the answer is 11.40 km east from he started..

(5^2+11^2)^1/2 (23+121)^1/2

11.40km..
