let intial bunches of yellow ban be 3 , now +2 so total cost = 30 * 5 = 150also 3 (y) red banana bunches ( cost = 3 * 40 = 120 ) ;so ,total amount is 270,or in general (30x+60) + (40y)now divide by 2 should be a discrete value of 30 order , so, try different values to x and ylet x = 1 and y =1 , then we have90 + 40 = 130 130 / 2 = 65 ............... not possiblelet x = 5 and y = 2210 + 80 = 290290 / 2 = 145 ................ not possiblelet x = 6 and y = 3240 + 120 = 360360/2 = 180 AND 180 / 30 = 6 or 6 bunches of yellow bananas,therefore, he had 360 cents to buy bananas( also see that 360 degrees is onecycle, and when youdivide you by 30 you get 12 and when you divide by 40 you get 9, both are discrete values, and before this you dont have any other number, giving such discrete values )

the ans is 480 cents.it can be proved as followsfor each yellow banana he requires 30 centsand for each red banana 40 cents.hence the total amount taken by him to buy bananas must be the multiple of 30 and 40the possibilities are 120 , 240,360,480.................out of which 240 satisfies given condition.
