2 candles. 1 burns for 4 hrs, other for 5 hours. I used both after power shutoff. Then after power retrieval I came to know that one candle was 4 times in length than the other. How far the candles were burning.(108-SakDev)

the equatn goes like this:

let saay the candles are initially 20 units long!!!

and it is given tht the candles burn out in 4 and  5hours respectively!!

so per hour the llength of the candles decrease by 1/4th and 1/5th of their leghts!!

x is the time for which the candles were burnt

so, (20-(20x/4))/(20-(20x/5))=1/4 gives x =3.75hoours=3hrs45min
