The 3 equilatral triangles can be formed by having a pyramid structure with 3 sides of 2 match sticks each side.(2+2+2) and at the base with 2 sticks on each side (2+2+2) totally of 12 sticks

no i dont agree in that way u'll get a hut shape i..e a trianlge and a square the middle diagnol is missing all we need will be 14 match sticks.
