Similar to client-service applications testing, but you have to know how to operate basic TSO and ISPF commands and menus, view mainframe files, look at and use SDSF or other output tool, log on CICS and transactions, use FTP or another transfer protocol, submit the batch job - it's for QA testing of mainframe applications.
And plus, QA testing for another platform, like WEB and/or client-service, since the mainframe is usually back-end.
It can be learned pretty quickly, but it needs an access to mainframe.

HiYou look quite experienced in QA testing of mainframes. Could u tell me more about that with an example how do we exactly test the backend. what all so we need to preapre for interview. Recently i got one requirement for back-end testing using ISPF, Mainframe utilities etc. How to prepare for the interview.Please suggest.Thanks in advance.

Mainframe testing is a testing that includes black box testing. No need of JCR and all programming language necessary. You should know basics of it like navigations, how to test the application etc..
