You need to do only Regression testing , Regression testing's main goal is newer version doesn't have impact on old version . i.e all old functionallity is working fine

Regression testing is the best way to find out the root cause...Run all the test cases or the bugs u reported, u will come to the reason..

also it may be happen that compatibility testing is not carried out & customer use that OS or service pack version or any H/W S/W messing that u use!!

Alpha and Beta Testing is over and the product is released at client's
environment and if there are any defect raised by the client side, such defects
can be fixed by the maintenance team.   Companies will give
Maintenance service to their clients for some period of time (may be for 1 month
to 2 years or more but not life time), so what ever defects will raised by the
client those defects will be fixed by the Maintenance Team.

For your question, we are not starting Testing from scratch. We are
conducting testing as a part of Maintenance and by doing regression Testing.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

HI

In that case we need to verify whether the issue is there in our environment, if issue was not there then we will intimate to client and will search for solution, if the issue was still there in our environment, if issue exists in our place then need to verify why it was missed, etc..  this can be called as risk analysis...
