 DataStage  |  Question 2 of 119    Print
Hi ,
in my pc i am unable to login to the Ascential datastage 7.1. whatever
the hostname i am specifying... i m getting the error statement as/...

Failed to connect to host: project:UV (The specified
hostname is not valid, or the host is not responding(81011)

n when i explored the online documentation file....the reason is given
as.......follows....
When defining a connection to a remote Uni Verse database, a new
uvodbc.config entry is added...It\'s important that the lastline (host=name)
is terminated with either a line terminator or space. otherwise the
hostname doesnot get picked up correctly by the datastage engine..In this
instance the error 81011(bad hostname or host not responding) is
reported.

can u guide me how to implement the above clue....n overcome my
error...

Awaiting your reply,
Regards,
Madhavi.

Dear Madhavi,

goto mycomputers--->rightclick-->properties-->network identification-->copy u r computername after that double click Datastage Administrator(Host sytem ) in there  paste u r computername after that select omit chekbox and then click ok,

then go for Datastage Designer selct host name and project then click ok.

this is the process u have to follow then automatically it connects to designer.

Hi Madhavi,

If you are stilling get that message than try to run all the services by clicking the Datastage icon in control panel. This is nothing but to turn on the server engine.

Still you are getting a problem then mail me back.

Hi,

Check the client version

There should be a file called UNIAPI.INI in windows edit the file and check the version protocol (11 or 12)

Check both the sides (clent and server) both version protocol has to be same

Regard's

Soma
