Hi ,
in my pc i am unable to login to the Ascential datastage 7.1. whatever the hostname i am specifying... i m getting the error statement as/...

Failed to connect to host: project:UV (The specified hostname is not valid, or the host is not responding(81011)

n when i explored the online documentation file....the reason is given as.......follows....
When defining a connection to a remote Uni Verse database, a new uvodbc.config entry is added...It\'s important that the lastline (host=name) is terminated with either a line terminator or space. otherwise the hostname doesnot get picked up correctly by the datastage engine..In this instance the error 81011(bad hostname or host not responding) is reported.

can u guide me how to implement the above clue....n overcome my error...

Hi,

Which OS your using ?

Datastage takes the user name from the operating system.

For windows,First you create user name and password for login windows.

Then give localhost or computer fullname.

I hope it will help.

hi, u can give username as Administrator and live it password and choose u r prject name i hope iyou are able login into ds

Give the hostname as .(dot) and give the username and password ...then it will work.

Hi madhavi,

Type host name in the dos you will get system host name type as it is,if the problem is not solved then go to my computer Properties and change the computer name may be it will work and while installing keep expiring date as 01/01/2008.ok chk by ths way and let me know is ur problem solved or not.
