When should you begin testing?

As a test engineer i will start testing when the modules/features to be tested is allocated by TestLead.

Testing begin in two ways and also it depend on the project first one is the begining face means in the desing phase second one is once the developement completed testing begin.

For any Project, testing activity will be there from starting onwards,After the Reuirements gathering, Design Docs(High and Low) will be prepared, that will be tested, whether they are confirming to requirements or not, Design then Coding- White box will be done, after the Build or System is ready, Integration followed by functional testing will be done, Till the product or Project was stable.After the product or project is stable , then testing will be stopped.

Informal testing begins as soon as you begin asking questions and learning about a particular project. 

Formal testing begins when you begin reviewing documentation that helps you learn about a project after it has been approved, baseliined, or otherwise made official.
