We cant say which tool is comfortable for desktop or web application. It is purely depending on the business people that is client.

If client has not specified the tool, then high level management people like Project Director and Project Manager decide the tool depending the functionality of the application

Sometimes for web application QTP and Silk Tools are the best choice depending on the project feasibilty as well as business people.
