What is a batch input session?

BATCH INPUT SESSION is an intermediate step between internal table and database table. Data along with the action is stored in session ie data for screen fields, to which screen it is passed, program name behind it, and how next screen is processed.

The R/3 system normally executes the transactions in a session non-interactively. Whenever there is more than one transaction call and data process such session are known as batch input session. This technique is used during large data transaction. Batch input session is an asynchronous process and can be processed in both foreground as well as in the background. However it is important to note that data update should be done synchronously.
