Rational functional tester when compared to the Rational Robot reduces the scripting effort & time.

Rational functional tester has only 2 verification points whereas the Rational Robot has 13 verification points.

In Rational functional tester scripting is done through simple Java programming where as in Rational robot scripting is done using SQA BAsic language

There is no difference between 'Rational Functional Tester' and 'IBM functional tester'. It's the same thing. Since 2003 IBM bought Rational and they wanted to market the that IBM and RATIONAL are same thing. So they sometimes use IBM w/R sign which represents Registered tradmark owner.Sohan Karim

Rational Robot and Ration Functional Test(RFT) are two different test automation products and both from IBM.

Ofcourse, As the previous person said, IBM bought Robot a while ago.

RFT is from IBM and use Java kind OOPS language (Objects & stuff like SILK TEST TOOL) & VB.net as languages whereas Robot use SQA basic (like VBA code) for scripting.

Robot works very well with Power Builder applications, whereas RFT works very well with J2EE projects, ASP.net, VB Projects as well as many other.

RFT is most advanced version with lot of features like supports automating mainframe testing wih emulators, etc. There is lot to talk about it..

3. Uses the syntax & Semantics of Procedural Oriented Language.

RFT supports

1. RFT supports two platforms i.e. Window & Linux, All functions except
recording is performed in Linux.
2. It provides two development platforms, Java Scripting on Rational Software
Development Platform & VB.NET Scripting on Visual Studio.NET
3. The scripting technique uses the concept of objects & classes

Although IBM Functional Tester is easier to use and offer more features, there are few applications that there objects will not be recognized.

On the other hand Rational functional tester (Robot) support more platforms.
