Generally Shell is a Command Interpreter. It just take the command from the command line and first it look the path(find exe) to execute the command. If the Command is a Valid then it will give the Output otherwise it will give the Error Message.

Its a command line interpretter but it is also considerd as an inteface that acts between the OS and the hardware
