the answer is

the mandatory background process for 9i is 5.

they are SMON,PMON,CKPT,DBWR,LGWR.

for 10g it is 6.

they are SMON,PMON,CKPT,DBWR,LGWR,MMON

OTHER PROCESSES ARE
