| SAS works and works well by providing more features than other tools. SAS is popular because it was the first of it's kind way back in the early 70s. There was SAS and something called SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). I worked with both at Rutgers, the state university of New Jersey and SAS was more powerful. Even then SAS supported database interfaces and had it's own internal database system and query language despite the fact that it was all batch then (no workstations, gui, pc,interactive.....nothing but batch) |
