What is Partial Backup ?

Answer:
A   Partial  Backup  is any operating system backup short of a full backup, taken while the database is open or shut down.

A partial backup is an operating system backup of part of a database. The backup of an individual tablespace's datafiles or the backup of a control file are examples of partial backups. Partial backups are useful only when the database is in ARCHIVELOG mode.
