Question:  TCS Interview Procedure -- Technical and HR interviews

Answer: successfully completed my tech+(hr+mr)  rounds, and  was selected in mumbai recruitment.
thanks for each and every group member.
 
my interview was held in Andheri (Mumbai).  the interview was cool . the panel consisted two members. they asked me the following questions.
 
   tell abt urself? 
   tell abt ur project? (they asked 3 to 4 que while i was explaining)
   DBMS ( different keys, normal forms, relationship between tables)
   OS( functions of os, algorithms of cpu, paging)
   Softaware Engineering( SDLC, Testing techniques, unit testing, modular testing)
  C++ ( polymorphism, virtual fuctions)
  LInked lists and searching techniques.
  Unix( 1 que, i could not answer for that)
  
  they asked questions for 30 to 35 minutes.
  i was unable to answer for  3 to 4 questions.(outof 20 to 25)
  but the interviewers were so frindly.
  they examine the candidate's confidence level and the way of explaining.
 
After completing the technical round, one person took me to upstairs  where our HR+MR interview was conducted.
 
the MR person asked me
 1) tell abt urself?
 2)abt my gab between my graduation and PG(MCA).
 3)asked abt cultivation ( as i told i helped my father in cultivation during my gab)
4) why should i hire u?
5) ur objective after 5 yrs?
6) do u know oracle? ( i said oracle 8, then he asked why oracle 8 instead of 9i,10i)
 
HR madam asked me....
  your strengths
 abt work agrement
 have u attended any interview before this
 abt relocation 
abt medical test
 
i answered for all technical and hr questions with confidence.
  
 pls go through
 
c, c++ ,data structures, DBMS concepts , OS and software engineering .
 
then definately u will gain the confidence. they will ask only fundamentals from these.
if u find any walk in ,  go for that,howmuch ever it may be far.
 
i went for mumbai walk-in from Hyderanbad.

hi friends, 
 
i had taken tcs test last day.here is my experience: 
 
the first round is an online test with qns under 3 sections- verbal, 
aptitude and critical reasoning. i heard that all qns are from 
barrons. u can refer old papers in chetana . they almost follow the 
same pattern. once you finish a section you are not able to change any 
answers. as the test is online ,once we finish a section, the last 
section is inaccessible.but within a section we are able to go back to 
old qns and change answers.instructions that they gave before 
test-click submit after every answer and dont click exit unless u r 
told to.once you finish these three sections you get the qns for 
psychometry. but they told that u need not do it and asked us to 
exit.no negative marks 
 
when i took the test there was some s/w complaint so the results that 
were displayed was not right. we had to wait for arnd 3 hrs to know 
it.later it was corrected and results were displayed instantly 
 
next is gd-one person from our group was asked to select a topic . she 
chose "should women work or not" boys were asked to support working 
women and girls were asked to counter it.in some groups they gave the 
topic. it was not like usual gd; they give each person a chance to 
speak. no interruptions in between.some other topics were-best country 
other than india, pollution can be controlled etc. mostly topic was 
decided by students.they make the group list alphabeticaly so you can 
decide the topic in prior if u want.dont take time to think while u 
speak. 
 
next we had tech interview.qns i had was-project, inner classes and 
accesing objects from them in java. private protected and public 
class. doubly linked list.quick sort .he also asked me to introduce 
myself, family background and why do i want to join tcs. 
 
hr-strength weakness(for some he asked to give 3 reasons why he should 
be knocked out from the selection process. dont give 3 just give one 
weakness if u like to)he also asked some tch qns. he asked me abt 
sdlc.then he asked types of feasibility studies then abt types of 
financial risks involved. 
 
then there was mgnt review- we heard that normaly it would be qns on 
bond relocating etc. but for all of us it was similar to hr. 
 
our experience was that people who take the test in the initial batch 
had higher chance of advancing to next round. filteration increases as 
time progress 
 
they told that they would announce results in a week. 
 
i would like to thank ppl like jithin whose earlier mail on tcs was 
really helpful.
