Question:  dev Space

Answer: While allocating space in (0 to 7 ) slices if you do not assign any space for /dev, will that cause a problem.

A value that indicates how the slice is being used.
0 = unassigned
1 = boot
2 = root
3 = swap
4 = usr
5 = backup
6 = stand
8 = home

This will not cause a problem.  The /dev directory will exist in the root file system.  Most if not all systems I have seen do not have a /dev filesystem.
