Can i do test a stand alone application with load runner while load runner and that application are on the same computer ?

My application is retail application in that i have to select different items. What I want to ask the condition is if we run that script for 10 users then for each user the items selected should be different for each user.All items have there own category and subcategory ,all are the links so to do this what we have to correlate in the script so that we can get the desired result.Please help me as soon as possible.thank you.
